Introduction A city of the Washoe County, Sparks is located in the Truckee Meadows between the Carson and Virginia Mountain Ranges at an elevation of nearly 4500 feet. It is the fifth largest city of Nevada covering a total area of 62.1 km² (24.0 mi²) of which 62.0 km² (23.9 mi²) is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) is water. The city shares the beautiful valley on the eastern slope of the Sierra with Reno. The community was named for Gov. John Sparks.
Sparks has a mild climate with lots of sun and low humidity. It enjoys four distinct seasons. It receives an average annual precipitation of 7.53 inches. January is the wettest month while July is the driest month in this city.
