Las Vegas is the most popular and the most important state of Nevada. It is famous for its luxury casinos, glitz and glamour. It is also known as the “Entertainment Capital of the World,” Since the 1980s, Las Vegas is an important center for business, services, transportation and finance. Las Vegas offers a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities as well.

Las Vegas is located at the center of Vegas Valley, a desert region of about 600 square miles. It is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Spring Mountains.

Nevada enjoys hot, windy, dry, and desert conditions with maximum temperatures rising up to 100 degrees F during the summer. Nights in the summer months are cool because of the presence of mountains in the proximity. Winters are mild. The mountains around Las Vegas reach elevations of over 10,000 feet, acting as barriers to moisture from the Pacific Ocean. Las Vegas receives very little rainfall and hardly any snowfall.
