Nevada is situated between the Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada in the western US. It is ranked 7th in size covering a total area of 110,561 sq mi (286,352 sq km),of which land comprises of 109,894 sq mi (284,624 sq km) and inland water covers 667 sq mi (1,728 sq km).
Nevada is surrounded on the North by Oregon and Idaho; by Utah and Arizona on the East; and on the South and West by California. The total boundary length of Nevada is 1,480 mi (2,382 km). The state's geographic center is in Lander County, 26 mi (42 km) SE of Austin.
